simple spaces
I love that sometimes its the little things in a space that really create an atmosphere of home. We all surround ourselves with things that we love or things that have somehow attached themselves to us, good or bad. The other day before we had to begin packing everything only to unload in seemingly the same house, I found myself stopping to look at things that I cherish or have brought a simple smile to my face for whatever reason.
These few things caught my attention... The first are canisters which belonged to my mother when she first got married and I so politely took them when I got married :) Then there is my windowsill above my kitchen sink. I always find that Im standing there doing dishes (because we dont have a dishwasher) and I get to look up and enjoy these few specifically placed items. There is my vintage mason jar, living basil, green onions (which I love because they keep growing in only water) and then my vase full of wine corks. I also love my spice rack, this was also my mothers when she was married. I did adjust a few things by spray painting the original wood rack and then taking sandpaper I distressed some areas on the frame.
I love all of these simple items which make my kitchen a little more special.
What things make your home a little more "you".... ?
