Tiny artwork making a big impact
If you follow me on instagram then you know how I’ve been switching things up and painting a lot of tiny landscapes. I love painting these little original landscapes for a number or reasons, but the biggest one is the fact that tiny art can truly make a big impact in your home. Plus it’s a fun way for me to get some ideas out of my head a little faster then when I paint large and because they are an affordable way to collect artwork for you home no matter your budget.
I’ve always believed that art should be accessible and your home should be a place of beauty that you really, truly want to spend time in. So I thought now would be the perfect time to share four of the ways I think you can use smaller size paintings to create a big impact in your home.
Frame larger then the actual size of your artwork.
Adding an oversized matte and frame allows your smaller scale artwork to really stand out and make a big statement in your home.
Create a gallery wall!
Make an interesting gallery wall using some of your favorite pieces of artwork and photographs. Make sure to incorporate multiple sizes and different framing types to create a wall or shelf that has tons of visual interest and tells a unique story. One of my favorite things to do is find unique frames at local antique shops! (not interested in sourcing your own frames… I love using Framebridge, they make framing your artwork so easy and they are incredible!)
Add small art pieces to unexpected places in your home.
Two of my favorite places to add artwork is in the kitchen and in the bathroom. These are the perfect places to sneak some personally and share the art you have been collecting. Hang a small painting beneath your kitchen cabinets or on a small wall that normally goes unnoticed. (note: always make sure art that you hang in these places are behind protective glass!)
Put artwork in your office!
I know that so many of us work at desks for way longer then we would like every day, so why not make is a place you love? framing a small piece of art and displaying if on or near your desk will instantly make you happier, I promise. I currently have a tiny landscape painting framed and sitting next to my pens on my desk. It’s helped me so much when I’m sitting for hours editing!
Have you collected tiny art? If so I would love to see your tiny art on display! Tag @kendracastillodesigns on Instagram so I can see and share! :)
