My First Art Walk - How I Created my gallery Wall on a budget

If you have been around this blog for any period of time than you know how much I love a good DIY and as much as I love DIY's I almost love spray paint even more. So when I got asked to participate in my first local downtown artwalk I was thrilled/nervous and completely unprepared to be honest. So I got back to my roots… spray paint that is. I’m pretty sure spray paint can solve 99% of life’s problems.

But in all honesty I had all of the artwork ready and I knew I wanted to bump up their visual presence since they were all smaller work on paper.

I decided to DIY some thrifted frames so that there was a cohesive feel to the collection while it was on display.

I started with thrifting a bunch or wooden frames then I cleaned them and prepped them for for some beautiful bronze paint. Then I followed the directions and waited for them to dry (i probably did 2/3 light coats of paint)

Next I picked up some archival quality corner tabs to hold my hand torn paper in place without making it become permanently adhered to the matting for a sort of “floating affect”

Overall it was a beautiful experience and when I went in to hang up my art the guy helping me kept stepping back and saying he has never seen a display like this one

which I’ll take as a compliment 😉
