THE RAIN WONT GET ME DOWN. FORT COLLINS CO.

We decided to have a girls day last week and there were days taken off of work and plans made to go shopping and explore Estes Park Colorado. We woke ready to have a day of site seeing and girly fun, but instead we woke up to black skys and thunder storm warnings. I have learned in our few months of living here that you need to pay attention to those warnings. So instead of making the hour drive to Estes we headed over to Fort Collins instead and it did not disappoint.

I haven't had a chance to explore their old town and I'm so glad we took a chance, even in the rain to do a little local site seeing and food eating. With umbrella in hand we walked around until we found this cute little place to take shelter in while a little storm passed.
If you are in Fort Collins you should grab a bite and maybe a pint at The Crown Pub. I was in love with the place before we even stepped in. How can you not love a place with a cute red door that makes you feel like your walking into a old London telephone booth.
When you walk in you are greeted by a quaint atmosphere, friendly workers and the chatter of happy customers. We got started with a few local pints and heaping pile of shoestring fries. If you like fries  and even if you don't, give these a try. They come with 3 amazing dipping sauces and we inhaled them so fast I forgot to snap a picture of how delicious they were. For lunch I choose a recommended steak salad and I am soooo glad I did!
This summer salad is the perfect mix of light and tangy. It has a light vinaigrette, blue cheese and bacon crumbles while being balanced with the sweetness of these perfect apple slices. This salad is seasonal but if you live in the area I highly recommend going and giving it a try.

After filling our bellies we braved the rain for a bit more as we checked out some local shops, grabbed something warm to drink and then headed home. Full and satisfied :)

What are some of your favorite summer salads?
