A LIVED LIFE
A friend recently reminded me that sometimes the home of an artist looks as if you have either been robbed, never washed a dish or dinner simply forgets to be made. For me all of these things were true at some point this weekend. I had homework, worked on ideas for a commissioned project, prepped for a conference (getting paintings ready.. not as easy as it seems) and a burst of creative energy that resulted in a painting that I think I have already fallen in love with. Needless to say my very small office/laundry/art space was consumed by a creative monster that forgot to clean up the mess that trailed behind.
As a result of setting aside my need to organized I was free to live in the moment and create what was on my heart. The laundry/dishes/cleaning will all be there tomorrow.. or the next day. But the urge to listend to God and be lead by his Sprit is the life that I want to live. It is full of promise and life and I get to be apart of it. Sometimes I forget how great it is that I am able to live with the spirit of God inside of me.. to be lead and guided as well as be given the gift of freedom. Not to be bound by expectation or religion. But free to live in the moment, and as a result I got to create something new.
I was reading in Psalms and this particular verse inspired this painting. In Psalms 36:9 the author is talking about how great God is and how we are to run to him, it says "You're the fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light."
