Let's talk about prints!

As an artist and someone with a degree in interior design I’m a little obsessed with finding ways to elevate the spaces we live in. One of my favorite ways to do that is with a good art print! I’ve recently released a lot of new Prints and I thought I would share why prints are such a great option for you home. And if you’re here then I know you are someone who values artwork and living a life surrounded by beautiful things.

So the past few Sundays I’ve been sharing with my Email List 1-2 new art prints, some of these prints have been from past collections. Others are paintings that have sold or artwork I did for projects but never released publicly. I’ve had stacks of new print ideas in my head for ages and this seemed like the most straight forward way for me to finally get some of those projects out of my head and into your homes. But That’s sort of a different story, the reason I sat down after a much too long break from blogging was to share a few reasons about WHY I love art prints. Obviously I love original artwork, thats what I do for a living, but I think art prints often get overlook and I think thats a bit of a shame, so I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the subject…

One of the main reasons I love art prints are because they are an affordable way to add color and personality to your home. I often think people put too much pressure about what art they want to live with, to me it simple. If something jumps out at you and you love it, then you should confidently pick it, live with it and enjoy it!

Sure, maybe you have a color theme to work with in your home or a mood you want to have, but my rule still remain the same, if you love it, then I think you’re meant to enjoy it. This brings me back to one of the reasons I love art prints so much, not only are they an affordable option if you are a fan of a particular artist, but they are something that can easily be changed out for different seasons.

one of my favorite suuuuper simple tricks…

*Have a few different standard size frames that you use around your house (1-3 different sizes is a great starting point). Then when you purchase your art prints or have photos printed, all you have to do is pick from one of your go-to size frame and it makes it super easy to decorate you home!

Each quarter or change of the season, I love to pull out new artwork or stacks of photos (which are now all fit into the standard frames I have selected for my home) and I like to ask myself “which one feel good to me right now, which pictures/prints do I want to live with in this season?” Sometimes I notice the colors I’m drawn to change depending on the weather, other times I want more simple artwork on the wall, other times give me all the bold, bright and full of movement that I’m craving.

So, maybe you need a little encouragement to trust yourself when it comes to the artwork you place in your home.

Maybe you start off small and pick a few 8x10 prints to place around your home and switch them out with the changing seasons or maybe you’re feeling confident and what that ONE special piece that you will stare at every day without hesitation, then go all in and pick the big one with excitement. I hear people get discouraged all the time when it comes to picking art for their home, so they end up not choosing anything, which obviously is a shame if you ask me. You should enjoy and feel at ease in your home, so promise me that when a piece of artwork calls your name you will listen. I know you won’t regret it!

Here is a peak at some of the prints that are new to the shop!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject of home decorating and prints in particular…
