Keeping Your Mental Health a Priority

There is something to say about keeping your head on straight. After launching my first big Art Collection I felt like I could sleep for a week. There is so much involved that you wouldn't even think about when you glance at someones artwork. There are hours and hours of work involved and that isn't even counting the painting process.

---  I received ZzzQuil for testing purposes, however all opinions are my own. ---

By the morning after the big launch what did I do? Well I sat down and began making my next to-do list, because life keeps going. However, I have found one too many times that trying to do life "well" cant be done when I am tired and cranky. When Im tired and cranky all I want is a giant cup of coffee and about 9 hours of Netflix.

So I have come up with a couple really simple things that I do to help keep my mental health a priority.

#1 - GET LOTS OF SLEEP

Usually I would say that I am a generally good sleeper. I can lay down in bed and once I shut the light off I can be asleep quickly. Unfortunately that's usually not the case when in the weeks before a big launch or during a high stress period in our lives.

Somethings that helps me to maintain a healthy sleep pattern are; lavender essential oil (I like to rub it on my feet an wrists, low lighting (I try not to have bright lights on in the hour or two before I go to bed and last but not least... ZzzQuil. If you are rolling your eyes at me, you can stop, because I thought the same thing, but I can say that the first night I tried using ZzzQuil I slept like a baby. Some nights if Marcus even rolls over it will wake me up, but I slept so soundly I don't think I even moved! The best part is that when you wake up in the morning you aren't even the slightest bit drowsy, which I have had happen with other sleep aids (even natural ones).

#2 - MAKE A PLAN & PRIORITIZE IT

I used to be pretty unorganized and even now I can have bad days, but the thing that keeps me sane the most is prioritizing my time.

The best way I have found to do that is to make a few lists. For me I make 3 different types of lists. I make one for PERSONAL/ HOUSE things, another for BLOG related to-do's and my last one is ART business related goals & to-do items.

I like to break up my tasks because it makes it easier to visually see what needs to get done in the different areas of my life. Then from there I can break down and prioritize each list.

It may seem simple but these 2 tips are seriously the things that keep me sane. Plus I like that it is simple... Sleep & Prioritizing! By doing these couple things I am able to keep my mental health a priority. Do you have any tips for how you maintain your mental health?
