RAMBLINGS VOL 19 | A SIMPLE LIFE
As a little girl you were almost guaranteed to find me curled up
in some little nook reading a book or playing quietly by myself.
I would go out into the woods and imagine building houses out of the
broken trees around me. But I didn't want to build a huge house I wanted
to find that hidden spot among the fallen branches to sneak into. I wanted to see
what life looked like from inside those leaves. It wasn't even about bringing toys
or tools from home to make these little hideaways feel like a home but rather
using the sticks and mud and anything else to create these little worlds.
I even remember being about 5 years old when I packed up everything I could
into an old blanket and decided in my little mind that I was going to be a hobo.
(what child wants to do this? apparently I did haha) but I set out on my adventure,
which really only lead to our front porch but I remember setting down my little bundle
of things I thought were important and thinking this is all I need. I didn't want to
go home, I wanted this life of simplicity.
Its crazy looking back how those little childhood moments shaped me and makes
me realize that the way I feel today, even when it conflicts with opinions around me,
is the life meant for me. I love the simple things. I like a simple life filled with simple
treasures, memories, laughter, hand created things. I like moments alone or with
just a few people over any crowd. Of course life sometimes puts you in situations
where you are stretched out of your comfort zone and boy have I been there and
I dont expect that to stop, but I know where I'm grounded and that makes all the difference.
