Well Friday is finally here (at least I’m 99% sure, since I thought I was a year younger then I am all last week 🤦🏻‍♀️). Anyways... I don’t know about you but I’m ready for some rest! It took me a while to realize the value & necessity for real rest. I think it looks a little different for everybody but for me it looks like logging off social media, actually adhering to my “work hours” even while I work from home and investing in my relationships. ⠀ ⠀ Do you find it easy or hard to create space to rest? ⠀ What things do you do to help? #kendracastilloart

This might sound strange, but sometimes I’m happy when my paintings don’t sell quickly. I painted these early in the year & I have moved them around our home. They have been a reminder to myself to let go, try things that challenge my fears & make me oh so uncomfortable in the process. ⠀ ⠀ I’m sure these babies will find a home one day, but for now I’m grateful for the reminder that they bring! ⠀ ⠀ These two paintings ( + 9 more) will be on display at @makersworkspaces For the rest of 2018! Simple Beginnings - It’s so easy for me to speed by the small moments that make up the bigger “highlights” of my life, but everything starts somewhere. Maybe it’s the practice of getting up a bit earlier to take time to do some self-care ⠀ ⠀ or maybe it’s that random topic that you’ve found interesting lately or it’s taking 10 mins everyday to write even if you’re not sure where it’s going. ⠀ ⠀ For me sometimes it looks like taking out some paper and a pencil and simply making marks, letting the pencil move across the page without over thinking the process or the outcome. ⠀ ⠀ Simple beginnings. ⠀ ⠀ That’s my little reminder today. I want to try and be aware of these small moments, maybe this is something that will help you today too whether it’s a mundane Monday or you’re doing something crazy! ⠀ ⠀ For me today is a day of mundane activities, but hopefully It will be a bit more interesting with this intentional practice. #kendracastilloart
*novel ahead* There’s a first for everything... like bathroom selfies. I just wanted to capture this moment for my personal reminder that I can do more then I think I can. ⠀ ⠀ To be completely honest, I’ve been struggling with vertigo for over a year & because of that it’s triggered some anxiety. I was becoming scared to start new projects, drive long distances and the worst part was that every time I would start to get nervous my anxiety would get trigger which would then make me think i was getting vertigo and the wonderful cycle would be complete... I recognized that this couldn’t go on forever. I couldn’t build a business, create artwork or be the best version on myself while I felt trapped by my own body. ⠀ ⠀ All that to say. I’ve been doing the work needed to not feel “trapped” anymore and there have been some incredible opportunities lately that would usually be major triggers, but instead I’ve pushed past & reminded myself of what’s true & the reward has been so incredible! There’s nothing better then doing something you may have thought impossible in the past. Even if that’s simply taking a long drive by yourself ☺️⠀ ⠀ If you feel like sharing something, please tell me know how I can pray/ encourage you right now. ⠀ I know I couldn’t have pushed foreword without my incredible friends and I hope you know you’re a part of this community with me now and I want to be there for you if I can! And YOU can do more then you think possible!!
Help!! I’ve been collecting some vintage frames... which only means one thing. Some new paintings are in the works.
